This video is for authors who have self-published their audiobooks through Findaway Voices or are considering using that platform.

There has been a lot of news with Findaway Voices of late. They were acquired by Spotify last year and are now called Findaway Voices by Spotify, an official name change. As authors, we’ve been able to list our audiobooks on Spotify through Findaway Voices for a while now. But they had to be purchased. So where our favorite musical artists are paid a cut from Spotify premium revenue or ad money based on streams, we authors just got paid if someone purchased the audiobook outright. Listeners had to make a full purchase. Which is good, money. But it hurts discoverability. Maybe someone would give the audiobook a try if it was part of their Spotify premium membership, but that wasn’t an option.

Until now.

Spotify Premium members in the UK and AU they have now listen to audiobooks on Spotify as part of their membership, yay! More countries are coming soon. Because of this, we now get some insights into who is listening to our audiobooks, how long they are listening, etc. This can be compelling data so here is how you look at this information:

This can be great for demographic data to apply to paid ads, to see if any organic promotions worked, and tinkering with your marketing strategies. Don’t ignore it, okay?
