This video is not going to be as planned out. Ironic, because it is about planning. But I have been able to get through life, without a solid structure to my TBR. I like it, I add it on my library request, and I read it. Yay! I’ll request a bunch of books when I am doing research for a new book or a phase of life and I read it at will. But I have a bad habit of adding A TON of books on my want-to-read list and then they get lost. So this year, I’m actually going in with a plan, and if you are an author who, like me, has not planned before. I think this is the time to stop and make a plan.

Here’s why:
I am an omnivorous reader. I read everything. Mostly. I don’t read horror. I’m not loving true crime or books about serial killers since I had my daughter. Just doesn’t sit with me anymore. I generally, don’t like historical period pieces. These genres all have their merit, they just aren’t for me, more for you. But otherwise, I’ll read it. Sci Fi, Romance, Domestic Thrillers, Non-fiction, Poetry. I’m there for it.

But, I’ve come to realize that what I read is what I am. Like, you are what you eat. And I notice my writing style will ebb and flow based on what I’ve been consuming. So I wanted to get really specific and dialed in this year so my writing reflects what the genre is.
