The differences are so minute and really come down to personal preferences and your personal publishing strategy. If you work with coauthors, you’re gonna be D2D. If you’re a lone wolf, that benefit doesn’t matter.
What is key here. Come closer. Closer.
DON’T UPLOAD TO BOTH!!
I have D2D for ebook wide-distro. I have IS for print wide-distro. I’m not going to double my efforts (and confuse the retailers with multiple listings) by having eBook and Print on both.
At the end of the day, you may pick just IS for both or D2D for both. I am a Smashwords legacy and D2D didn’t always have print. I’m not about to migrate all my listings.
So which platform do you use? Which do you have questions or concerns about?
