This is definitely for self-publishing authors because we have this choice to make of whether to be exclusive with Amazon or ACX for the sake of higher royalty percentages or exclusive programs. (Or just ease of use) The other option is benign wide and having more than just Amazon selling our books.

I do not know why my direct sales were so low in 2021 other than I was only doing the signed copies of my books. That was before adding Etsy and my checklists and that really boosted my direct sales. I think having a low-cost item that is easy to use, easy to print, and easy to update on my end helps. Also, it is a small low-cost item, but the authors then have a little skin in the game to make sure they use it. I have freebies on my newsletter sign-ups. I would bet it’s not used nearly as much as this one checklist with a $1.99 cost. It’s just enough to make someone use it. I may make more checklists and if that is something that would interest you, let me know below and I’ll make those. I considered doing one around querying since I am a hybrid author now.

I am so glad I have multiple retailers selling my books. I am so glad I have this channel as a line of income for me when royalties are low and royalties for when advertisers pull money ahead of the election. Diversifying my income streams has made my author business stronger. If not more tedious.
