This video is for any author who has the rights to self-publish their own audiobook. Whether you have self-published all formats or retained the audio rights to your traditionally published books, if you want to self-publish an audiobook you had to have a human-narrated audio file up to this point with limited exceptions.
As I reported in a preview video, each self-publishing platform associated with a major tech company : (Apple and Apple Books for Authors, Google and Google Play Books, and Amazon and the Amazon KDP Autonarration Beta) allowed for the auto-narrated audiobooks using the proprietary AI to that platofrm. There was ONE exception to this with Findaway Voices and Google Play Books had a deal so AI Audiobooks generated with Google Audionarration could be distributed wide with Findaway Voices.
One question I got over and over from people who watched this video was “What about ElevenLabs?” To which I wanted to reply “Did I mention that one? Then the answer is no.”
In the years that I have heard A LOT about ai narration, ElevenLabs has been consistently mentioned as being top of the line. Authors and creators pay a fee to create these audiobooks.
In February 2025, Findaway Voices announced it would NOW accept ElevenLabs audiobooks to be able to distribute to select platforms in the Findaway Voices network. Most notably, their parent company – Spotify.
So if you use ElevenLabs you can now self-publish and distribute your AI Audiobooks via Findaway Voices to sell on Spotify and elsewhere. If you have used any other company for AI narration, there isn’t an outlet for you yet except selling directly on your website.
Also, Eleven Labs does have a feature where you can upload your voice and train it to make an AI dupe of your voice. So you could create an AI version of your book with your voice and self-publish via Findaway Voices with Eleven Labs.
My thoughts on this:
I think this is going to help a lot of newer self-publishing authors who otherwise would never be able to afford to produce an audiobook. I believe audiobooks are great for every book for accessibility.
But I also see that there is going to be a flood of audiobooks coming to Spotify now from authors who have been creating the ElevenLabs books. So, if YOU have a human-narrated book, you may stand out in a sea of AI audiobooks. Each book description will have the AI designation in the first line.
Okay, when there are more updates, I will remake this video again. I’m curious to know your thoughts on this update. Do you have eleven labs audiobooks that you’re itching to distribute? Are you a human narrator who would love to work with the authors watching this video to help them stand out in the market?
