Short Meditation for Authors on Submission | Traditional Publishing Meditation

It’s here. The day you’ve waited for. Your agent is sending your book out to editors. Daydreams of lifechanging news and book tours and all the things dance in your head.
But so does their evil twin: self-doubt. Anxiety. Imposter Syndrome.
So take this time to pause. To experience this moment for what it is: the next phase on this journey.
Whether you are on submission for a month or a year, you got here! And now it is time to say thank you:
Close your eyes, weary from the blue light of your computer screen. Tired from the meticulous edits on your book.
Relax your forehead, the worry can come back later. For now, let it slip away.
Wiggle your fingers lightly. Thank them for typing out your words.
Relax your brain, tired from thinking up this world you have brought to life.
Roll your shoulders that hunched as you debated each word and beat.
You’ve done the work.
Breathe in
Breathe out
Breathe in confidence, breathe out worry
Breathe in calm, breathe out your urge to check your email
Breathe in creativity, breathe out the panic
In
Out
In
Out
What you can control at this time is how you react
How you reflect
How do you prepare for the next story that needs you to tell it
