Goodreads Giveaway Results | Testing Goodreads Giveaways for my Debut Romance Novel | Book Marketing

First day of the giveaway:
I had over 250 people enter the giveaway when I woke up. By the end of the day 1500 people had added FOMO to read and entered the giveaway. That’s a lot. And while I did announce it on social media, I think a lot of it came from whatever Goodreads pushed to people. Again, I did the standard, less expensive paperback giveaway. I’m happy with this. I can see that others who started their giveaway on the same day had more entrants. But this is book 1 for my new pen name. Right? If I were promoting some of my M.K. Williams backlist, maybe it would get more. Maybe not.
All very exciting.

Day 2: The video is up on YouTube. At least one person commented that they entered the giveaway because they saw it on the video. And that they follow me on social, but clearly they hadn’t seen the post the day before. So, good thing I did the video, right? Over the course of the month, more people commented on the video that they heard about the giveaway from this channel. So, thank you all for participating in these marketing experiments with me. I really appreciate it.

After the first 4 days, the cadence of people joining the giveaway and adding Fake Out Make Out to their TBR settled into about 45/50 people a day. Some days more, some less, but on average about 45/50 a day throughout the month of September. For me, this was about keeping momentum going into the March 2027 US and Canada print release.

I continued to promote it on my social media; it was in my newsletter, and I mentioned it in some more videos in September. So as much as I could shout about it, I did.

Final number of people who entered: 4,525.
Goodreads did some heavy promotion in the final days leading up. I did too, but they did something.

They sent me an automated email with the final number of entrants. And THEY pulled the winners; click here to see their info and mail the book.

Takeaways:
-Promote it everywhere you can
-Because I’m not the publisher, I couldn’t do the eBook option. I do think, when the 3rd and final book in the Feminina series comes out, I may do the eBook Goodreads giveaway for book 1, The Infinite-Infinite because then it’s international AND more people reading book 1 eventually means more people read books 2 and 3.
-I am planning to do another paperback giveaway for FOMO in February before the book is released in the US. So subscribe so you know when that’s happening.
