I am a little behind on getting this post up, but I had some great reads from the second quarter of 2018 that I wanted to share with you! I read 12 books last quarter and to be honest there were a few duds in the mix. The books listed below are the ones that I enjoyed the most. Be sure to add these to your “want-to-read” list.
Trashed by Alison Gaylin – This was a fun mystery novel that combined our society’s obsession with celebrity gossip with a good old fashioned whodunnit. The story was very gripping and I simply could not put this book down. The characters were interesting and quirky and I hope that the author will write another book with this group of journalists.
When She Woke by Hillary Jordan – A friend who knows how much I enjoy Margaret Atwood recommended this book to me and it did not disappoint. The world that Jordan created in this story was complex and well articulated. I found myself wanting to know more and more about the society and the characters. The transformation that Hannah made from the first page to the last was very well done.
It’s Always the Husband by Michele Campbell – Following the theme of great mysteries, the one had me raving to my friends and family for a full week after I finished the book. The multi-decade tale of twisted friendship and ultimately, murder, was fantastic. I did not see the ending coming whatsoever and I love it when an author can truly surprise me.
Linchpin by Seth Godin – I have tried to add more non-fiction into my regular reading schedule and Seth Godin is one of the best. As an author and entrepreneur, I find his books and his blog extremely valuable. If you haven’t been introduced to Mr. Godin yet, then this book is a great place to start!
