My 100th Video on AuthorTube : What I’ve Learned So Far About #Authortube

Hello and welcome back to my channel! This is my 100th video on YouTube or more specifically Authortube. It has been a fun ride so far and I’m so happy that I started this channel. Initially, it was created to serve a need. People kept asking me the same questions about self-publishing and I wanted a way to give the answer once and then not have to keep stopping to say it again and again. But I didn’t want to just batch text and hit send because that felt impersonal. That is how this channel was born. It answered the need, but I have gained so much from this channel that I never expected to. If you are an author who is just starting on Authortube or if you are thinking of starting a channel, here is what I have learned:

Batch recording, editing, and custom thumbnails

Keywords and descriptions

Making sure one of my book covers is visible in the background 😉

Always try to improve. So while I batch my videos, I only do about 6-8 max at a time. Because in the course of 2 months I inevitably learn new things and pick up new ways to improve the channels. – Feedback from Anna on how I’m sitting 😉

YouTube likes really long videos, but I know what it is like to be a writer with a full-time job. Now that being an author is my full-time job I still look at videos that are over 10 minutes and think “ain’t nobody got time for that.” So I still keep my videos or try to keep them, short and sweet.

TubeBuddy – just get the chrome extension for it. Even if you don’t have it in your budget for the upgraded paid version, the free version is really awesome.

Connecting with others

Easy to just focus on optimizing this channel, but again, I’d rather be writing my book

What do you want to hear about on this channel? – I have plans to keep talking about publishing platforms, pricing, the business of publishing, strategies for launching and marketing books. But that is what I want to talk about, what do you want to hear?

If you have found this information helpful please let me know if the comments and be sure to give this video a thumbs up and don’t forget to subscribe and ring the bell. This helps YouTube know that this video was helpful and can get it in front of more authors like us, it will also help make sure you are notified every time I have a new video go live.

Now you can get back to writing your book, or creating your channel!
