5 Years of Publishing: A look back at what has changed since my first book launched in October 2015

Oh my goodness! It has been 5 full years since my very first book came out. 5 years ago!

I had just started a job at an amazing company that I loved.
I had no allusions of becoming a full-time author, I knew it was a pipedream.
And I thought 1 book a year was a reasonable pace for me given my full-time job and available time to write and do all the self-publishing tasks.
I had no plans to ever help other authors because I was so new to everything and I felt so overwhelmed by what I didn’t know.

As you can see A LOT HAS CHANGED!
So, this is now my full-time job, it has been for about a year and a half now. I love this job way more than anything else I’ve ever done. I get to write and read books and think about books. I get to help other authors on their journey. It is beyond fulfilling.
With that, I still have anchored in my mind one novel a year as my publication pace because it takes a while to get the story just right. But I have been able to help others publish and these are just a FEW that came out this year. And I now have my own non-fiction books that I think are a bit easier to write because I am literally just downloading my brain.
And thankfully, I get to help other authors. I learned a lot and along the way realized how much satisfaction I got from helping authors realize their dreams. I felt so isolated when I was starting out, being able to be a calm voice of experience for others has been so rewarding and I can’t imagine my life without this aspect of my job. I can’t just ‘be creative’ all day every day. So using the skills I’ve acquired to help others makes me very, very happy.

I have no idea what the next 5 years holds for me. I have 8 titles out now with my name on it. I plan to continue to grow my business so I can show up for aspiring authors in more ways and on more platforms to help them where they are. But wow, if that past 5 years is any indicator, the next 5 are going to be amazing!
