It’s done! Your book is formatted and approved on IngramSpark. Now you are just waiting to get it into your hands. That beautiful moment when the books arrive and you unbox it. But how do you get the book from a listing on your IngramSpark dashboard to a box on your doorstep? Today we’ll be going over how to order copies of your own book on IngramSpark!

The first time you hold your book in your hands is such an amazing moment. Many authors want to get their proofs or author copies as soon as they can. A proof is usually a copy you receive before release date that you can look at to make sure the book looks the way you want it before it goes out to the world. On Amazon these versions have the “not for resale” band on them.

Author copies are copies of the book you order at cost, so you only pay for printing and shipping, for you to own for marketing, to put on your shelf, to hand to your grandma, to resell at bookfairs. Etc.

So how do you actually place this order? I’ve heard some authors ask if they should order from Amazon to boost their rankings. So first of all, that’s not ethical. Also Amazon could see it was your address and your book so they know not to count those. And three, if your book is on preorder the retailers can’t release it to you yet. For those of us who do print preorders through IngramSpark you can actually order your proofs and author copies before release date. I’ll show you how in this video.
