You may have heard that having a series of books is more lucrative as an author than a stand-alone. Why would that be? Well, if someone liked the first book, they’re probably going to like the second or third or fourth. This is certainly the case for fiction. Depending on how you have serialized your books for non-fiction this can work too. If every book in the non-fiction series builds on the previous you’re good. If you have ten different versions of your book in one series for accountants, doctors, lawyers, etc. well then the reader may only be interested in one of those books.

You as the author have a lot of control over how you promote the series within the book. Clearly mark that the book is a series, add the first chapter of the next book to the end of that previous book, etc. But when it comes to the biggest place where people will look, you will see more sales in the series if reader can easily find the rest of the books in the series. You want it to be really clear to them which book it is in the series as well.

For my books on GooglePlay and Apple, the system automatically created a series page for me. Yay! Amazon used to automatically create series pages, but it isn’t so automatic now. I read an article with specific instructions on how to request that Amazon create the series page. It was not at all correct. So I scripted a video and had it RECORDED and ready to publish and then Amazon changed their process again and I have been frustrated by that for a year but i’m adding a new series so I can finally show you the new process…
