How to move your IP into your LLC | Author Business Set-Up Questions Answered

Hello friends,
I spoke earlier about how I set up an LLC for my author business. The whole point of which was to transfer my IP into the LLC. I had found several author-specific articles about the pros and cons of starting a business and entrepreneurial articles talking about how to pick which type of LLC but I couldn’t find very much on how to move the IP into the LLC. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I kept getting results for how to start an LLC or why an author might need an LLC or what IP and copyright is, but nothing on how to move it. I felt like Tim Allen in the Santa Claus asking each elf “but what if I fall off the roof?”

Finally, I found an article from Side Bar Saturdays. He had SUPER HELPFUL information and links on contracts/agreements you can use to sign your IP into the LLC and details on registering your copyright. THANK YOU!

So effectively, I followed this advice. I, being Me, signed a contract with Me, LLC to transfer my IP. I signed it, dated it, scanned it, and now that’s done.

Fairly straightforward once I found the answer and had the LLC set up. I have a link to his article below if you are lost and looking as well:
